Supplying Supermarket Chains in the Domestic Market

Published: 2026-08-11 · 2 min read ·

MC Sarıkaya Gıda supplies supermarkets and retail chains in the Turkish domestic market on a regular basis and continues to grow this channel - our approach to domestic retail.

Our business is not limited to export: we also maintain regular supply in the Turkish domestic market, and within that channel we supply supermarkets and retail chains. We apply the same quality-control standard to every lot bound for the domestic market as we do to our export shipments - whether the buyer is an export container or a supermarket warehouse is not a reason to compromise on quality.

Supplying a supermarket chain calls for a different discipline

Working with a supermarket chain takes far more than finding the best produce of the season once: it requires a steady volume that can keep up with a weekly, or even daily, delivery schedule, a supply network that hits the same caliber and quality grade on every shipment, and packaging that fits the chain's own shelf and logistics standards. The sorting and grading steps described in our quality control process are applied with the same rigor to shipments bound for the domestic market; private label cartons can also be prepared to a chain's own brand specifications on request. Demand for this capability is growing too: according to the Private Label Manufacturers and Suppliers Association of Turkey (PLAT), private label product revenue in Turkey grew 25% in 2024, above the global average of 22%, and PLAT forecast a further 30% growth for 2025.

Why now: organized retail is growing fast in Turkey

This growth is not random. According to the June 2026 Retail Foods Annual report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA FAS), the share of organized/modern retail in Turkey rose from 41.8% in 2014 to 67.3% in 2025, while the total food retail market reached approximately $120.2 billion in 2025. As supermarkets and retail chains take a growing share of food shopping, the value of a supplier that can deliver directly and reliably into that channel grows with it. We cover the sector-wide detail behind this growth in our article on The Growth of Organized Retail in Turkey.

One supply network, two destinations

Our domestic and export shipments draw on the same supply network: produce carefully selected from Turkey's 34 growing regions first passes through quality control, then is packaged and moved via cold chain according to its destination - a supermarket warehouse or an export container. This shared infrastructure also means a seasonal fluctuation in a single growing region doesn't interrupt weekly supply to the domestic channel.

For supermarket chains and our other institutional buyers

We continue to grow our domestic supermarket and retail-chain supply. See our Products page for our full portfolio, our Seasonal Calendar for harvest and supply timing, or contact us to discuss a partnership.
